Synthetic-interpretive History & The Americanist Academy Mission

Conventionally, history is a monograph based on original sources and the interpretation of the data. However, Americanist Academy develops synthetic-interpretive history. That is, we rely on secondary sources, material produced by other scholars, and seek new insights from a deliberate mix of historical research. Furthermore, our interest in people and society has us primarily studying cultural, societal, intellectual, and technological historical spaces in the period we call Emerging-modern America (1877-1940).
